The route of this exhibition will be built around the notion of the Mediterranean, the one that we fantasize about and which is anchored in the great myths of our origins, but also that which is lived on a daily basis, far from the images of postcards, in the cruelty of our world today.

The title of the exhibition comes from Lucien Lévy-Bruhl’s study “How Natives Think” from 1910, in which he controversially divided societal cognitive processes into “primitive” or “civilized”, the former being used to describe those who couldn’t decipher between natural and supernatural. Bringing together 14 international artists, the works in this exhibition allude to psychoanalytic theories that consider shared unconsciousness and man’s connection to imagined fantasies.
